Laser Dentistry

One of the most modern cosmetic dentistry procedures we perform is soft tissue laser dentistry. Laser dentistry uses short, controlled bursts of light energy that are not detectable by the human nervous system. Lasers allow cosmetic dentists to carry out otherwise painful surgeries with much less pain.

Laser Periodontal Therapy

Traditional treatment involves using sharp instruments to scrape the tartar from the root surfaces (scaling and root planing), allowing the gum tissue to reattach to the roots. However, when the disease progresses to a point where scaling and root planing would not be effective, gum surgery is indicated. With traditional periodontal surgery, the gum tissue is cut with a scalpel and pushed aside. The roots and bone are cleared of deposits and smoothed. Then the gum tissue is replaced and stitches are used while the gum heals, often resulting in long exposed roots that are sensitive, unsightly, andvulnerable to decay.

Using our state-of-the-art soft-tissue lasers we will painlessly open the area around your teeth to thoroughly clean off any tartar and infected tissue. With this new procedure, we can treat your periodontal problem without cutting your gums or using stitches. You will experience minimal discomfort and a faster healing time. Gumline Re-Contouring

Gum tissue that is red and swollen and unsymmetrical in appearance detracts from teeth that are otherwise healthy. In order to make your gums healthy, your gum tissue has to be restored to a healthy state. Inflammation must be reduced to get the gum tissue tight and pink.

Lasers are also extremely useful in cosmetic procedures, particularly in gumline reshaping. A simple cosmetic gum lift involves surgically contouring the gum tissue to a more aesthetically balanced appearance. Procedures that would normally require anaesthetic, scalpels and sutures can be performed with little to no blood and with less trauma. Therefore, reducing the post-operative swelling and scaring associated with other methods. The gum tissue heals very quickly, and the patient experiences very little, if any, discomfort. The potential for infections is also reduced significantly when a laser is used, compared to traditional instruments. The re-contouring of gums using lasers is a simple procedure that can make a world of difference in the quality of your smile.
